Day Trips From Killarney to the Blarney Castle + Stone
The 13th-century Blarney Castle is a medieval fortress located in Blarney, Ireland. The castle is best known for the Blarney Stone, a stone located at the top of the castle that is said to have magical powers.
According to legend, kissing the Blarney Stone upside down will give you the “gift of eloquence and persuasiveness”. Although there are many stories about the origins of the Blarney Stone, it’s believed to be a piece of limestone that was originally part of the walls of the castle.
Today, the Blarney Stone is a popular tourist attraction, and thousands of people visit the castle each year to kiss the stone. Blarney Castle is just over an hour’s drive away from Killarney, making it the perfect day trip from Killarney.
If you are driving in Ireland, you can make the trip on your own and book a ticket directly to tour the castle and kiss the stone.
