How to Find Cheap Accommodation in Redondo Beach
Unfortunately, any beachside city in southern California is not going to have what most people consider “cheap” hotels and places to stay. This article will list a few of the cheaper hotels and motels around South Bay LA in comparison to the average nightly price of the area.
As someone who has lived in the South Bay my whole life and coordinates itineraries for travelers to California, my best tip for finding the cheapest hotels would be to stay further inland, away from the beach.
Torrance is the next city over from Redondo Beach and is plenty safe with nice neighborhoods that tend to have more affordable hotel options. Other decent options include Gardena, Hawthorne (stay closer to Manhattan Beach), Lomita, San Pedro (closer to the waterfront here is safer), and Carson. Just make sure to carefully read the reviews on these hotels to know you’re in a safe part of the city!

Cheapest Hotels in (or Close to) Redondo Beach
#1 – Ramada Limited Redondo Beach ★★
🏆 Rating: 7/10 | 📍South Redondo
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
The Ramada is the cheapest, good-quality hotel in Redondo Beach, but it’s not the cheapest in the whole of the South Bay. It’s a great option for both price and location because it’s located directly on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and just a 12-minute walk from the Redondo Beach Pier. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby as well as shopping centers, bars, entertainment, and the beach.
Beyond the excellent location, the Ramada offers free on-the-go breakfast each morning as well as free onsite self-parking. It’s a great all-around choice with clean, well-presented rooms that are nicely equipped with everything you need.
“Loved the size of the rooms, the facilities provided and the friendly staff. Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.”
Sam on Booking.com
#2 – Hollywood Inn Suites Hotel ★★★
🏆 Rating: 7.6/10 | 📍Gardena
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
The Hollywood Inn is a very nice stay for the low price point. The drawback is that it’s one of the furthest inland from the beach on this list. However, it’s one of the cheapest hotels in the area that still has a great rating and features.
Located in Gardena, it’s convenient for quick access to LAX Airport or for those looking to also explore Los Angeles while staying in the South Bay. It’s a fairly basic stay but gets great reviews for the comfortable beds, cleanliness, and helpful staff.
Parking can be found either offsite on the street or there is onsite self-parking for $10 per day with in/out privileges.
“The hotel is very well renovated and the rooms are enormous. They also offer free coffee and aromatic water at the lounge of the reception. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Everything was great.”
Lorca on Booking.com
#3 – Redondo Beach Inn ★★
🏆 Rating: 7.2/10 | 📍Gardena
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
Typically the cheapest hotel in Redondo Beach, this is a very basic choice best for those looking to really cut down on cost. It’s further inland (technically in Gardena) and closer to attractions such as the South Bay Galleria mall than the beach and pier, though still within easy driving distance.
Unfortunately, it’s not the best in terms of appearance but it does cover your basic needs of a decent bed and service, free parking, and a safe location. This is definitely a no-frills accommodation option but a solid choice nonetheless.
“Other than the one elevator and no breakfast everything was awesome the staff was great the room was on point and the price was just right keep up the great work”
Valerie on Booking.com
#4 – Del Amo Inn ★★★
🏆 Rating: 7.2/10 | 📍Torrance
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
On par with the price point of the above-mentioned hotels but still, on the cheaper end. The Del Amo Inn is at least a bit closer to the main attractions of Redondo Beach.
It does not have a very updated interior but there is free on-site parking, and it’s clean, and within a safe neighborhood. It’s a good “go-to” for a basic, cheap place to stay in the South Bay.
“Overall it exceeded our expectation! We are very happy to stay at this Hotel. Thanks to all the staff for their kindness!”
Bwauran on Booking.com
Best Mid-Range Affordable Hotels in Redondo Beach
#5 – Redondo Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton ★★★
🏆 Rating: 8.8/10 | 📍Redondo Beach (Harbor)
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
This is the best all-around hotel in Redondo Beach for its price, location, and amenities. It’s located right within the King Harbor Marina area which is an excellent location. While prices are not necessarily the cheapest, they are still decent and affordable for the location.
There are extra amenities as well such as a lovely rooftop terrace, bicycle rentals, and a pool. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable with very attentive and friendly staff.
There is nearby street parking or uncovered onsite self-parking for $16 per night, including in/out privileges.
“GREAT location, redesign of an older hotel, etc. I like this for the ‘beach feel’ while not going over-the-top pricey!”
Megan on Booking.com
#6 – Best Western Plus Redondo Beach Inn ★★★
🏆 Rating: 8.6/10 | 📍South Redondo Beach (Riviera)
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
Located closer to the Riviera (my personal favorite part of the city) in south Redondo Beach, this Best Western is a well-rated, generally affordable hotel stay. There is a pool, gym, free parking, and bicycle rentals. Plus, they have a free breakfast with plenty of hot and cold food options.
While Best Western might not be the cheapest hotel in Redondo, it’s a great all-around option at a decent price. The hotel is nice, clean, and convenient to all areas.
“Perfect in every way. The choices of food at breakfast and the staff were both wonderful… The room was large, quiet, and immaculate. The staff at the front desk were both friendly and professional.”
Eileen on Booking.com
#7 – Redondo Inn and Suites ★★
🏆 Rating: 7.4/10 | 📍 South Redondo Beach
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
A bit older, smaller, and has fewer amenities than the Best Western, but it’s also typically a bit cheaper. The location is pretty good, right on PCH and just a few minutes’ walk to the beach as well as some excellent restaurants and cafes.
There is free onsite parking and the front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. It’s comfortable, clean, in a great location, and most importantly – pretty cheap!
“Loved this place it was close enough to the ocean that we could walk over during our very brief stay. The managers were young and very friendly and I loved their smile. The room was small and basic but everything we needed and the price was half what some of the new places right on the interstate were. In every way it was a good choice and we will be back!”
Donna on Booking.com
Beach Front Hotels in Redondo Beach
#8 – Sea Sprite Oceanfront Hotel ★★★
🏆 Rating: 8.8/10 | 📍 Hermosa Beach
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
The only truly beachfront hotels in the South Bay are located in Hermosa Beach, and the Sea Sprite is usually the cheaper of the two options. The hotel opens right onto the Strand and the sandy beach. Plus, it’s right off the Hermosa Beach Pier and still less than 2 miles from the Redondo Beach Pier.
The hotel has been completely renovated and of course, the great location makes it significantly more expensive than the cheap options on this list. Depending on the time of year you visit, you might be able to still find an affordable room here to experience living right on the beach!
The Sea Sprite also allows dogs, one of the few hotels in the area that does, and it’s the hotel with the cheapest pet deposit fee in Redondo Beach. It allows 2 dogs per room, up to 35lbs per pet, and a pet deposit fee of $75 per pet, per night.
There is onsite self-parking, which costs $25 per night.
“We travelled to a few different places in California and this hotel was by far our favourite. Vibe and design was spot on. Rooms were spacious, well thought out, very clean and comfortable. Really liked having a balcony too. Jason on reception was super friendly and helpful.”
Hollie on Booking.com
#9 – Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina ★★★★
🏆 Rating: 8.6/10 | 📍 Redondo Beach (Marina)
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
The closest you will get to “beachfront” at a cheaper price in Redondo Beach is the Sonesta, with some views over the marina but no direct access to the beach. The location is excellent and the hotel has plenty of fantastic amenities that make the additional cost worth it.
There is a lovely outdoor pool onsite as well as two delicious restaurants, a bar, tennis courts, and a buffet breakfast (extra charge). The patio has a view of the beach and there is an excellent happy hour in the lounge off of reception.
The Sonesta is also pet-friendly, for an extra charge of $150 per stay. Covered self-parking costs $33 per night and valet parking costs $36 per night.
“Outstanding location, with only the large marina and shops between us and the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful view from our room, and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.”

Hotels on the Redondo Beach Pier
#10 – Shade Hotel Redondo Beach ★★★★
🏆 Rating: 9/10 | 📍 Redondo Beach (Marina)
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
Arguably the best hotel in Redondo Beach, Shade Hotel is an excellent choice but definitely not the cheapest around. While there are no hotels on the pier, staying just a bit north on the marina is essentially the same – and you will love your stay at this exquisite hotel.
The upscale Shade Hotel features gorgeous views from the rooftop terrace, an outdoor pool with a poolside bar, a fitness center, yoga classes, a spa center including massages, and an excellent restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean with views over the marina from many of them.
There is secured uncovered onsite valet parking for $35 per night and a resort fee of $20 per person per night. Pets are allowed for an extra charge of $125 per stay.
“Would 100% return! First class all the way around! Beautiful location, great staff, the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on, wonderful food, gorgeous view from our ocean front room and just overall trip of a lifetime!”
Mindy on Booking.com
#11 – Portofino Hotel & Marina ★★★★
🏆 Rating: 8.2/10 | 📍 Redondo Beach (Marina)
🏨 Check Availability on Booking.com | Expedia | Hotels.com
Also located on the marina, many of the rooms feature either an ocean view or views over the marina. The Portofino has 2 bars, an outdoor pool, and upscale fitness facilities. Enjoy dining at BALEENkitchen which overlooks the garden or a refreshing cocktail at happy hour.
The Portofino is also pet-friendly, for an extra charge of $120 per stay. Self-parking costs $32 per night and valet parking costs $35 per night.
“I loved the decor, the staff was very helpful, the restaurant had amazing food, the views of the Marina were lovely. All around great time!”

Airbnb in Redondo Beach
Homestays in Redondo Beach are often a bit more limited in availability and pricing. I typically recommend Vrbo over Airbnb for stays in the South Bay because Airbnb will have cheap listings, but more often than not they end up being a room in someone’s house… Whereas with Vrbo the stays listed are always entirely yours.
Vrbo will likely be a cheaper option than a hotel only if you have a larger party. For example, you can check out these adorable beachside bungalows that end up being fairly affordable if you can fill them up.
⭐️ El Segundo Beach Bungalow – Starts at ~$599/night (with fees, not tax) and sleeps 8 = $75pp
⭐️ Beautiful Manhattan Beach Bungalow w/ Ocean View – Starts at ~$583 (with fees) and sleeps 6 = $97pp
⭐️ Burnham Beach Cottage Redondo Beach – Starts at ~$326 (with fees) and sleeps 4 = $82pp

Top Things to Do in Redondo Beach
Redondo Beach is often overlooked by the more well-known cities of Hermosa and Manhattan, however, Redondo has always been my favorite! The beaches in Redondo, especially as you move closer to the peninsula, are usually less crowded than the other South Bay beaches and are simply beautiful.
There is plenty to explore from the Pier to adorable coffee shops, the restaurants on the Riviera, surfing and water sports, or simply biking down the strand. Check out my full guide to the best things to do in Redondo Beach for more inspiration!

❗Is Travel Insurance Required in the U.S.?
No, it’s not.
However, it’s always recommended to have travel insurance any time you travel in case of injury, accident, lost luggage, missed flight, etc. The best and most affordable travel/expat insurance is Safety Wing. It covers some medical as well, which is important in the U.S. due to the high cost of health care.

☔️ When Is the Best Time to Visit California?
Summer (June-August) – is the warmest (in some parts it can be pretty hot) but you will have the most crowds. Some parts of the state get “June Gloom” where it can be cloudy during the morning and burn off by mid-day.
Spring (March-May) or Fall (September-November) – are cooler and have the potential of rain, but you will beat some of the crowds and see some incredible wildflowers (spring)/greenery (fall).

🚘 Should You Rent a Car in California?
I very highly recommend renting a car in California so you don’t miss out on the gorgeous scenery and wonderful things to do in between the big cities! California is fantastic for road trips – there is SO much to see up and down the coast. Plus, sites are often spread far out, even in the cities, so having a car is the most convenient option.
